FlutterDaze Butterfly Project: “The Keeper”

I think you will really be impressed with the quality of it and I would like to give you a little background on it.

I thought
about the symbolism of a butterfly: how it goes from a caterpillar
stage hibernating so to speak to a miraculous creature that is so
different looking. I think this difference was part of the
inspiration for my work. I thought of how much transformation
really occurs on our planet, with all the animals and landscape. I
also thought of how this is all connected and should be protected.
I thought
about how my Cherokee Indian heritage plays an important part of how
I feel about our Earth: how I am connected to it and all the
creatures and components. I thought of the different powerful
elements that are at work in life: land, air, fire, and water. I
also reflected on how beautiful all the different landscapes are in
this world: the Wetlands, the Rainforest, the Desert, and so on.
I also feel
that to function this way requires a higher set of standards- the
person represented at the top of my painting- The Keeper. We are the
stewards and shepherds of our land and I feel that this love is
being reflected not only in this painting but in all of my work.
